Ziona Chana, a man from the hills of Baktwang village in the Indian state of Mizoram housed his 39 wives, 94 children, 14-daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren all in a four-story house.
“Today I feel like God’s special child. He’s given me so many people to look after,” Mr. Chana told the Sun in an interview.
“I consider myself a lucky man to be the husband of 39 women and head of the world’s largest family,” he added.
Mr. Chana’s older wife oldest wife Zathiangi lead her fellow wives to do the household chores such as cleaning, washing and preparing the food.
Reports said that Mr. Chana is also the head of the denomination that allows men to have wives as much as they can.
Mr. Chana married 10 women in one year. He slept in a double-bed while his wives stayed in the communal dormitories.
The 35 years old wife of Mr. Chana named Rinkmini said: “‘We stay around him as he is the most important person in the house. He is the most handsome person in the village.” Rinkmini also said that Mr. Chana notices her in a morning walk 18 years ago and hand her a letter asking her for marriage.
Huntharnghanki, one of Mr. Chana’s wives said that the whole family has a good relationship with each other and the family is established in “mutual love and respect.”
Mr. Chana is the head of a sect with 4,000 members and says that he never stopped seeking for new wives.
Mr. Chana, whose religious sect has 4,00 members, says he has not stopped looking for new wives.
“To expand my sect, I am willing to go even to the U.S. to marry,” Mr. Chana said.
