Miss World Japan 2018 Is A Descendant of A Famous Samurai Lord, “One-Eyed Dragon.”

This year’s 68th Miss World pageant happened last December 8, 2018, in Sanya, China. We all know that people have their favorites during the prestigious pageantry. One of the crowd favorites is Miss world Japan who has a legendary background. She is a direct descendant of the famous “One-Eyed Dragon” samurai lord from the 1600s!

Kanako Date is in 21 generations back to the famous samurai lord Date Masamune who ruled over what is now known as Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture. Masamune lost sight in his right eye due to having smallpox as a kid. He reportedly plucked it out after one friend told him the enemy could take it out. That’s where he got the nickname “One-Eyed Dragon.”

One-Eyed Dragon is popular for his fearsome reputation, war, and conquest. Having a large crescent emblem in front of his helmet, Masamune is considered as an outstanding tactician in his time in the 1600s.

Now, the 22-year-old Miss World Japan embodies her aristocratic lineage of beauty and brains. Kanako is a fourth-year law student in Japan’s prestigious Keio University, fluent in several languages such as English, German, French, Spanish, and Korean. She can also play the Japanese stringed instrument called koto and she loves archery.

Moreover, she’s also a model, singer, and a dancer. In the nutshell, she got everything!

Let’s not forget the representative of the Philippines too.
