Many netizens wowed to the post of Binibining Pilipinas official Facebook page which featured the different National Costume of the candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2019. Among those who caught the attention of many is the gown of Emma Mary Tiglao, a Binibining Pilipinas candidate from Pampanga that earned more than 65K reactions from Facebook alone.
The gown of Bb. Tiglao was designed by the Kapampangan designer Rich Sabinian. The materials used in making the gown was woven by the inmates called “basket weavers” from Angeles District Jail Male Dorm. The gown showcases the traditional weaving called “solihiya” and wood carving called “pinukpok” in Pampanga.
The designer called the gown “FE ESPERANZA CARIDAD” which means, “Faith, Hope, and Charity.” It symbolizes the rich culture and heritage of Pampanga. Bb. Tiglao wore the gown for the photo exhibit opened to the public last May 8 at Gateway Mall, Cubao.
On the Facebook post of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Angeles District Jail, they expressed their gratitude to Bb. Tiglao and Rich Sabinian for trusting their craftsmanship in making basket weavers to complete the gown.
Aside from Bb. Tiglao, it can also be seen in the exhibit the stunning National Costumes of all the candidates from various provinces in the Philippines. Their gowns were designed by different local designers showcases the wealth of the Philippines. These gowns will be displayed in the coming National Costume Fashion Show on May 29 at the New Frontier Theater.
The 56th edition of Bb. Pilipinas will take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines on June 9, 2019.
