A CCTV footage recently went viral on social media showing a delivery boy eating customer’s food in the elevator.
I don’t know about you but when I get hungry, I feel dizzy and irritable. We all have been in a situation where we get really hungry but so lazy to cook or go out to buy food. We are living in a modern world where everything is possible. We can talk and see someone from the other parts of the world using our phone, information is all one search away, and if you are craving for something, it is one click also.
We can now order the food we want to eat by calling a fast-food chain or through using an app. Aside from the being accessible, we could expect that the delivery is fast. But one delivery boy in the Guangdong city of Sihui was seen on CCTV riding up an elevator camera hurriedly eating from a plastic container. The delivery boy was identified as an employee of the food delivery app Meituan.
After he ate, he covered the container and placed it back in his bag. But he is not done yet, he was seen retrieving container that contains some soup and drink. The delivery boy packs the remaining food and gets out of the elevator as if nothing happened.
When the video was uploaded on social media and went viral, the delivery boy was immediately fired. Mr. Xu, the public relations officer for Meituan in southern China, said:
“So far, we have already fired the employee and notified the whole food delivery industry. He would be banned from the business. We offer our sincerest apologies. We will then strengthen the discipline and training of the food delivery men in all spots around the nation, and promote the proper sealing of delivery food.”
