Rags-to-riches stories never gets old, especially exceptional ones such as this. Fernando Kuehnel and his brother were abandoned when he was just 6 years old. They were brought to the orphanage, but he escaped when he was 10 years old. He made a living pushing kariton and surviving on food from the trash.
When he was 13, he went back to the orphanage when he heard that his brothers were going to be adopted and brought to the United States. This didn’t end well, however, as their prospective parents returned them to the orphanage.
Fortune later smiled on them when the Kuehnel family adopted them. The family took the boys with them to the U.S. and were treated great.
Fernando was able to get a Nursing degree and one in business adminstration, graduating summa cum laude. He eventually became a clinical scientist for Novartis.
This former street kid now has his own family and residing at Dania Beach, Florida.
