How heartbreaking it is to hear or see senior citizen working hard just to make ends meet. Though the government has projects and budgets for them, there are still senior citizens who work very hard just to survive.
A Facebook user named Che Positive shared her sentiments about this matter upon seeing an elderly woman work despite the rain. This heartbreaking scene prompted her to ask for help online.
Che was on her way to the supermarket to buy some things and as soon as she stepped outside, she stumbled upon a wet elderly woman fixing the junk she’s collected. He immediately ran inside his house and got some noodles and sardines. And it also turned out that the two already met before.
“Ito pala yung matanda na sinabihan ko dati na kakatok sa gate namin pag dadaan para maabutan ko man Lang sana kahit ulam at bigas lang. Pero Hinde nya ginagawa. Sabi ng kapit bahay nahihiya daw nung minsan nilang sabihan na katukin ako.”
Then the two started to have a conversation and the elderly woman told her that she wished that the Almighty take her already. The struggles and difficulties she bore on her shoulder might be so heavy and she is very tired to bear it anymore. The concerned netizen was also emotional as she shared her struggles.
Thankfully, a lot of netizens saw the post and said that they are willing to help. Some of them pitched in and Che was able to buy some groceries for the woman.
“Update para Kay Lola… Eto na po yung 1st batch ng groceries para kay lola…maraming salamat po sa mga nagpadala ng cash at nag pabili ng groceries para Kay lola. Para po mas maging sustainable Ang pag tulong nyo at maging pang matagalan. Hinde ko po ibibigay Ang lahat ng tulong sa isang bagsakan lang… Every Saturday po ay bibigyan ko si Lola ng pang konsumo nya para sa isang buong linggo. Yung sobra sa pangangailangan nya po. Maraming maraming salamat sa lahat ng tumugon sa panawagan ko po na matulungan si lola.”
